Overview

Bergmann, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is currently seeking an Acoustical Engineer (Environmental Noise Engineer) at any level to join our team in Lansing, MI! This position collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of project engineers, designers, and environmental scientists to progress noise studies for transportation and other types of projects.   

 

Responsibilities

  • Support and execution of acoustical monitoring (development related, transportation systems operations or construction)
  • Work directly on projects with FHWA, DOT, and local noise ordinances
  • Work with senior engineers to create designs that meet or exceed client needs
  • Assist senior engineers on technical design aspects including acoustical monitoring, acoustical modeling, and recommendations for design development
  • Use techniques, modifications, and extensions of theories, precepts, and practices in performing noise analysis and developing noise abatement and mitigation plans
  • Perform assignments requiring the development of new and/or improved techniques and procedures in environmental acoustics
  • Participate in the interpretation, update, and/or creation of Standards of Practice
  • Field work conducted in collaboration with senior engineers and project engineers
  • Meet schedule, budget, and quality goals set by project managers
  • Model acoustical environments using TNM (Traffic Noise Models) and sound plans

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline
  • EIT preferred but not required
  • Previous internship experience and/or capstone project work pertaining to environmental or civil engineering is a plus
  • Prior experience in the field of acoustic measurements and data analysis is a plus
  • Excellent math/physics and computer skills; strong communication skills on technical issues
  • Ability to work independently, as well as, in a team environment
